Fleeting Hope
Robert Kennedy, having won the Democratic Party’s favor, emerged as its standard-bearer. Tragically, moments after the post-victory celebration on June 5, 1968, he was fatally shot by Sirhan Sirhan, marking an abrupt end to the optimism.

After the critical shooting, Bob Kennedy was immediately taken to the hospital for emergency care. Far away in Manhattan, Jackie hurried to the L.A hospital upon hearing the tragic news. Despite efforts, Kennedy succumbed to his injuries 26 hours later.
